The Affiliated Stomatological Hospital of Nanchang University implements “Four-in-one” management pattern and uniquely combines the School of Stomatology of Nanchang University, the Affiliated Stomatological Hospital of Nanchang University, the Stomatological Hospital of Jiangxi Province and the Institute of Oral Disease of Jiangxi Province as one system. The hospital is an upper first-class stomatological hospital encompassing medical service, teaching, research, prevention, health care and training. It began as the Stomatology Department of Jiangxi Medical College which was set up in 1980 and was gradually added the name of the Stomatological Hospital of Jiangxi Province. In 2005, its name was changed from the Affiliated Stomatological Hospital of Jiangxi Medical College to the Affiliated Stomatological Hospital of Nanchang University.

Situated in Nanchang, the capital of Jiangxi Province, the hospital owns two courtyard areas which respectively locate in Honggutan and Donghu with a total floor area of more than 66,000 square meters. What’s more, it also sets up several sub-outpatient departments such as Shimao Sub-outpatient Department and a stomatology center in Shenzhen Hyzen Hospital. The hospital owns 498 staffs including 423 health professionals, 212 staffs with master’s degree or above, 101professionals with a vice-senior title or above, 11 doctoral supervisors, 40 master supervisors, and more than 30 staffs with the title of “Hundreds of Talents Project of Jiangxi Province” or “Young and Middle-aged Experts with Outstanding Contribution in Health Area of Jiangxi Province” or “Special Allowance from the Government of Jiangxi Province.

The hospital is a modern and specialized stomatological hospital with advanced equipment, excellent facility and beautiful environment. It owns more than 470 approved dental chairs and 100 approved hospital beds. The annual clinic amount reaches more than 400,000 and the number of hospitalized patient is more than 1700. Oral disease, orthodontics, prosthodontics, and oral orthognathic surgery and the preventive dentistry are granted as the leading medicine subjects of Jiangxi province while the oral maxillofacial surgery is listed as the key medical clinic discipline of Jiangxi Province.

The School of Stomatology is the construction site of national first-class undergraduate major and the authorized site of cultivating stomatology students with maters’ degree and doctors’ degree. The school establishes classes at different levels including undergraduate teaching, postgraduate teaching and so on. It cultivates thousands of stomatology talents. It is the Practical Skill Examination Base and Examiner Training Base for the National Medical Qualification Examination, the Examination Base for the Standardization Training of Resident Doctors in Jiangxi province, the Professional Quality-controlled Center for Stomatology in Jiangxi province and also the affiliated unit of the Control Group of Dental Disease in Jiangxi province, the Stomatological Association of Jiangxi Province and the Stomatological Doctor Organization of Jiangxi Medical Doctor Association.

The hospital undertakes more than 400 research projects among which there are 23 projects supported by National Natural Science Foundation of China. In the recent 5 years, the staffs in the hospital have published more than 200 high-level papers. It owns many high-level scientific research platforms such as the branch of National Oral Disease Clinical Research Center in Jiangxi Province, the National Pharmaceutically Clinical Testing Institution, the Jiangxi Oral Bio-medicine Key Laboratory, the Jiangxi Oral Disease Clinical Research Center and “Haizhi Plan” Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Radiography Workstation.

The hospital thinks highly of the communication and cooperation at home and abroad. It’s the sister school of the School of Stomatology of Shanghai Jiao Tong University. The hospital signed the counterpart support agreement with Peking University Hospital of Stomatology and Hospital of Stomatology Wuhan University. In addition, the hospital sets up a friendly cooperation relationship with the Dentistry Department of Kyushu University, and it also signs a strategic cooperation agreement and develops all-around cooperation with the School of Dentistry of Temple University, the Dentistry Department of Washington University and the School of Dentistry, Asahi University.
